Pomegranate & Avocado: Your Best Friends During Winter

The chilly and drying winds from winter can leave you feeling dull and chapped.  Here are 2 great homemade skin treatments that will keep your skin well nourished and give you back that youthful glow!

Skin Whitening Pomegranate and Green Tea Scrub

  • 4-5 teaspoons fresh pomegranate juice (with seeds)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3 teaspoons freshly brewed green tea
  1. Cut open the pomegranate top with a sharp knife. Then, cut into sections, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  2. Place the sections in a bowl of cool water to soften, and roll out the juice sacs with your fingers. Strain and retain the seeds.
  3. Place seeds in a small bowl, add green tea and lemon juice. Stir well.
  4. Rub the mixture gently over your clean face and neck in a gentle circular motion. Pay special attention to areas prone to blackheads.
  5. Wait 10 minutes before rinsing.
Applying this once a week will help remove dark spots and freckles, heal acne scars and soften fine lines and wrinkles too!
Pomegranate has been known to strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation. So don't forget to eat the leftover fruit regularly to help stop varicose veins and spider veins from developing!

Avocado and Apple Cider Vinegar Face Mask

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • 3 teaspoons olive oil
Mash all ingredients together and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Repeat this mask 1-2 times a week for best results!
Avocado is packed with powerful antioxidants, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids, all of these work together to promote healthy skin. Apple cider vinegar is very antibacterial and the alpha-hydroxy and amino acids help to brighten dull complexion by dissolving dead skin cells.
